Description:
|
This cream & beige wool tweed knee length coat may look simple at first glance, but is actually intricate, while still allowing the garment to reach maximum functionality. Using leather trim, as Cashin did on most of her tweed garments, allowed her to develop shapes that required minimal cutting of handwoven fabrics for construction. On this coat, tan leather makes up the collar, elbow pads & 1½ inch waistband, and lines the center front and sleeves. On the collar there are two-brass turnlock closures, while there are four hidden internal brass closures down center front. Located on the side seams of the leather waistband are two brass metal cuffs. This is a simple piece of metal, to not only add striking detail to the coat, but to also keep the belt in place. The detail of the two deep pockets on either side of the coat is kept simple. There are no shoulder seams in this coat; the seam goes straight into the collar, allowing the consumer to wear many layers comfortably underneath the coat. (CAM#105)
