Description:
|
This is one of many cow hide leather coats developed by Cashin. This one is bright green and features an A-line shape and princess seam front. From this princess seam are two belt buckle closures for adjustable fit. The two-piece kimono sleeve rounds the shoulder while the empire waist seam of the coat allows for the smooth and flattering A-line fit. The cuffs do not have buttons or a placket, but are vented and able to be folded up comfortably. A convertible collar is attached at the neckline. Another example of soft cotton, jersey-knit lining is seen highlighting Cashin's ability to combine utility, comfort, and elegance within a single design. Through combining knits with suede, wool flannel, and wool tweed, Cashin adds another combination of soft jersey with leather to her collection. Comfortable to wear against the skin, this coat is heavy and warm, and can be layered with other items. According to the Vintage Fashion Guild, the tag of this garment and thesis by Dr. Injoo Kim show this garment was produced in 1969 while Cashin was at Sills (notice the bright, vivid color characteristic of this era seen in the leather even after 50 years). (CAM#4)
