Description:
This sandstone building has a rusticated base, Roman arches and Corinthian columns. Egg-and-dart trim recurs throughout the building, on the furniture and architectural elements, and is an example of continuity and strict attention to detail. The frogs carved into the stone and in the tile mosaic of the south entranceway are reminder "that the courthouse was constructed on the marshy bed of the abandoned Miami-Erie Canal."
