Description:
|
The Preble County courthouse was designed by Eaton native, Harvey H. Hiestand from 1917-1918. He used Indiana Bedford limestone for the exterior and Pennsylvania marble for the interior. "Below the parapet and above the first story on the pavilion of the exterior are evenly spaced Ionic columns at each end. Columns extend up above the third floor, where a denticulated entablature begins, extending to the outside bays. Hiestand also added a fourth-floor jail, hidden from the outside behind a solid parapet."
