Description:

"Sawyer Point Park is twenty two acres of reclaimed land along the Ohio dedicated on June 4, 1988. Before us on a pedestal of pink granite stands a large scale bronze statue, "The Spirit of Cincinnatus." The Cincinnatus Association, a local reform minded civic group, commissioned it for the city's bicentennial from Eleftherious Karkadoulias, a local sculptor known for his restoration of the Tyler Davidson and Hyde Park Fountains. Beyond the statue our eyes take in the Proctor & Gamble Performance Pavilion. At the park's edge, we make out Andrew Leicester's "Cincinnati Gateway Sculpture." The city intends that the park become an urban showcase. Sawyer Point is a well-conceived and sensitively planned landscape, designed for use by lots of people, yet with a sequence of diverse spaces and greenery setting off the public areas."
