Described in Catlin's North American Indian Portfolio p. 15. Left to Right: 1. He Who Drinks the Juice of the Stone, Choctaw, painted at Fort Gibson in 1834, Gallery No. 299 (Truettner, 1979, p. 227). Entry from Catlin's 1848 catalog reads, "Tul-lock-chish-ko, Full-length, in the dress and attitude of a ball-player, with ball-sticks in his hand, and tail, made of white horsehair, attached to his belt." 2. Red Man, Dakota (Santee), painted at Fort Snelling in 1835, Gallery No. 75 (Truettner, 1979, p. 165). Entry from Catlin's 1848 catalog reads, "We-chush-ta-doo-ta, the Red Man; the two [with He Who Stands on Both Sides] most distinguished ball-players of the Sioux tribe, in their ball-play dress, with their ball-sticks in their hands." 3. He Who Stands on Both Sides (Ah-no-je-nahge), Dakota (Santee), painted at Fort Snelling in 1835, Gallery No. 74 (Truettner, 1979, p. 165).
