Description:
|
Described in Vol. II, p. 23. Caption from Truettner catalog of Catlin's Indian Gallery. Entry from Catlin's 1848 catalog reads, "Wa-hon-ga-shee, No Fool; a great fop. Used half the day in painting his face, preparing to sit for his picture." Probably painted at Fort Leavenworth in 1832 (Truettner, 1979, p. 150).
