Entry from Catlin's 1848 catalog reads, "Eeh-tow-wees-ka-zeet, He who has Eyes behind him; one of the foremost braves of the tribe, in a handsome dress. This man visited Washington with the Indian agent, Major Sanford, a few years since." Originally painted in 1831 (Truettner, 1979, p. 193).
