ART WORKS Original painted by Charles Bird King (1785-1862) in Washington (D.C.) in 1825 (Cosentino: 394). This portrait is listed as No. 124 in the Catalogue of Indian Paintings Belonging to the Government Collection which appeared in William J. Rhees' 1859 Guide to the Smithsonian Institution: "OCHIO-FINICO, (war name), CHARLES CONNELLO, (English name) -- Creek Chief (King, 1825)" (Viola, 1976, p. 145). This copy was destroyed in the Smithsonian fire of 1865. A portrait of Oche Fineco, probably after King, formerly in the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, Harvard University (Peabody Number: 82-51-10\28243, is in the D. Harold Byrd, Jr. Collection (Viola, 1983, Listed).
