ART WORKS Original painted by Charles Bird King (1785-1862) in Washington (D.C.) in 1828 (Cosentino: .436). This portrait is unlocated. Cosentino lists another portrait of Sequoyah by King (Cosentino: 437) owned by Geoffrey Barker Churchill. According to the National Portrait Gallery online catalog, this portrait was purchased from Churchill in 1979 (NPG Accession No.: NPG.79.174). It is listed as a copy by Henry Inman (1801-1846) dated ca. 1830 (https://www.npg.si.edu/col/native/home2.htm).
