Description:
Bonnie Cashin's leather and tweed clothes were made especially for the woman who led an active life. Their simple structure and blending of fall fabrics were some of Cashin's classic hallmarks (Sports Illustrated). Bonnie Cashin's designs focused on simplicity and cleanness, while targeting what women wanted to wear. Because of this, Cashin's work has been defined as "functional minimalism" (Kim, Injoo). This simple yet beautiful A-Line coat made of black, beige, and tan houndstooth wool tweed & tan leather has no inner lining. Cashin eliminated the need for facing, by using these heavy tweeds that she loved so much. By removing the need for facing, she was able to reduce the bulk and stiffness of the garment that allowed the fabric to drape naturally. Tan leather makes up the collar, center front, and cuffs of the coat. Hidden down the center front are three brass snaps used as closures. The pockets are extremely subtle and are barely visible.
