Description:
Richly colored in red and black plaid, this knee-length, wool coat was created by Cashin for layering and comfort, similar to that of the Noh coat. This coat possesses the prominent collar of the 1960s and 1970s, the convertible collar, which was seen often in sportswear. When the collar is open, the facing show; when it is closed, it looks like a normal shirt collar. The facing of the collar, the center-front lining, base of the sleeves, and the inside sleeves are all bound with leather allowances. Three brass, shank buttons found toward the upper portion of the coat allow for an open base of the coat, adding further to the creation of ease and comfort Cashin aspired to create in her designs.
