Description:
Designing complete outfits was Cashin's passion, which was apparent through her sketches and the variety of her work. Cashin explained, "I felt that designing for the entire body was like an artist's composition" (Ratiner, Tracy. Encyclopedia of World Biography, 2007). It's no surprise that Cashin would design a complete working woman's outfit, which is what this two-piece tweed suit set embodies. Straying away from the norm of black and white houndstooth, this set is made of an army green and black pattern. The jacket has three-quarter sleeves with round, flat, and metal buttons as closures down the center. A black leather belt is wrapped around the bottom of the suit jacket, which hits around the hip. The collar is double-layered with black leather underneath and tweed on top. There are two oversized breast pockets on the front, which is a prominent feature in many of Cashin's designs. The skirt is sectioned with a straight cut top and a bias cut bottom. A side zipper, a hook, and eye serve as closures for the skirt. All edges are finished with durable black leather binding.
