"V-E Day - now I don't remember how we heard the news! I do remember how we spent the day after Ted came with a jeep full of liquor taken from the Germans, some of it by them from the Russians. Secretly (we thought) we unloaded the case from his jeep - but we didn't know that a picture was being taken of this deed from atop Hq building, the photographer a captain on our staff who took excellent pictures and never knew our identity nor our task! The photo taken by Captain Feistkorn also shows patients at the wire fence beside the barn buying cognac from the Belgians." -- Ashbaugh, Barbara Lincoln, Memoirs, 1995.
