Description:
|
From: Sioux Indian Painting. Vol. 2, p. 8: The end of the battle. Of special interest are the bodies of the horses fallen as they ran and the fine uncolored frontal drawing of a horse in the upper left, probably an unfinished figure. The heads of the two horses near by indicate stationary mounts from which warriors have dismounted to end with arrows the lives of the wounded men and animals. Map references: Little Bighorn Battlefield (Mont.) References: Blish, Helen H. A Pictographic History of the Oglala Sioux. Lincoln, Nebraska: University of Nebraska Press, 1967. p. 248.
