Description:
|
"The Lewis McKever Farmhouse is an example of rural Italianate architecture and is a physical manifestation of agrarian prosperity. Built in 1871, this farmhouse is a rare instance of brick Italianate architecture designed in the basic "T" Plan. The fenestration on the front and side facades is symmetrical and reflect the vertical emphasis of the style...[as does its] decorative stone trim [and] bracketed cornice. In addition, the type of of masonry bond employed on the wall surface is unique four southwestern Ohio. The "spacious and commodious" house was built by Lewis McKever (1820-1877), who along with his 4 sons, operated the then 277-acre farm...The property today consists of 9.6 acres on which there are sheds and outbuildings."
