Description:
|
Built in 1925, the Belvedere Apartment building in North Avondale was the first luxury apartment building located on the outskirts of the city's core. Sidney Warm, son of the builder, stated that architect, CH Ferber, was sent to New York City to view luxury apartments and to recreate one in Cincinnati. Once it was completed there was a waiting list to live there and many notable Cincinnatians called the Belvedere home. However, the most significant feature of the building is its exquisite interior. The lobby is full of delightful surprises, such as variegated marble flooring, a terra cotta coffered ceiling, and mural paintings on vaulted ceilings in the front and side wings of the lobby. Original wrought iron chandeliers and sconces, a brass mail box, brass elevator indicators, are just some of the beautiful interior details. Original furniture from the 1920s includes wrought iron and black marble console tables, these on every floor, and a pair of French Renaissance style armchairs in the lobby.
