The Genius of Water was a gift to the city of Cincinnati from Henry Probasco in 1871. The fountain was designed by August von Kreling and executed by Ferdinand von Mueller. Mueller cast the bronze fountain at the Royal Bavarian Foundry in Munich, Germany. The fountain is 43 feet high, contains 13 allegorical figures, 4 bas-reliefs and depicts the importance of water.
