Description:
|
Also known as the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building, Hamilton County Memorial Hall was constructed from 1904-1908 and was designed by the Cincinnati architectural firm of Samuel Hannaford & Sons. The exterior walls are light-colored, smooth stone. The facade is accented by Corinthian columns, six sculptures of military figures on the frieze, and quotations from Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address engraved in attic-story panels. The doors and panels are made from iron and use a scroll pattern. The interior of the hall is elegantly decorated with military artifact displays, conventionalized designs over painted on the walls, and a large arch framing the main stage in the concert hall. The original electric chandeliers and sconces are still present. The small concert hall is renowned for its acoustics and sight lines, making it a preferred sight for small performances and meetings.
