Description:
|
"The spire is freestone, not the less durable slate; its pattern suggests clapboarding. Spangled with trefoils and quatrefoils, the spire sends the eye soaring skywards. Each of the church's gables has a bull's eye within a trefoil. The west window drew its inspiration from the "Five Sisters," a thirteen-century window in the north transept of York Cathedral. Tinsley twice signed the building with his W and T monogram: on a corbel in the interior and at the end of the right-hand boss (below the stain-glass window) on the exterior of the south transept. Samuel Hannaford and Sons designed the parish house (1925) behind."
