Described in Catlin's North American Indian Portfolio p. 5. Left to Right: 1. Tal-lee, Osage, painted at Fort Gibson in 1834, Gallery No. 32 (Truettner, 1979, p, 153). Entry in Catlin's 1848 catalog reads, "Tal-lee, an Osage warrior of distinction; with his shield, bow, and quiver." 2. Not-to-way, Iroquois, painted at Fort Snelling in 1835 or Sault Ste. Marie in 1836, Gallery No. 196 (Truettner, 1979, p. 199). Entry from Catlin's 1848 catalog reads, "Not-to-way, a Chief, a temperate and excellent man, with a beautiful headdress on." 3. Pawnee Woman.
